About the blog title "Lucky Threes for 2013". I meant to post on my birthday making the important announcement about my new lucky #3, but life kind of got in the way. Only just a few weeks ago and already, the three's have found me more than once and almost daily! I leave you with this thought and a picture from my backyard at Monarch Castle.

It's the complexities in the simplicities that endlessly fascinate me.

Breaking news and a Holiday Sale

Blue Spill No. 2, alcohol and India inks
on Claybord, 2.5"x3.5", 2012
After a whirlwind of months painting, showing, blogging, selling, working...I am taking a bit of a break, well, sort of :-). It's almost impossible for me to sit still for long, there's too much life to live, am I right?

I do have a bit of news I'm excited about. I'm working with a new design company that is placing reproductions of my work in hotels and healthcare facilities. The featured art in today's post, called Blue Spill no. 2, for example, is going into the Conrad Suite in Chicago as an insanely larger work, which makes me happy. Since this was a commissioned piece, I created a number of these spills. This slideshow has the best of the best in the collection:

I would love it if my work could be shown also in hospice care and other healthcare facilities to bring a sense of calmness and peace to both patients and caregivers. Larger original artwork would be better, obviously, but in due time, friends. I can only shave so many hours off sleep :-). Five new large paintings are in the works now, but more about those later. For now, I am letting them evolve at their own pace.

In other news, just today, I was just interviewed by art critic, Sally Deskins and featured in the blog Les Femmes Folles.

And last, a number of you have expressed interest in purchasing art for the holidays. I do have a few pieces framed and available for shipping. If you order by 12/14, I should be able to get a painting to you locally or delivered in time for your special occasion. All artwork not marked [SOLD] in the description is still available. Shipping is free, I can accept payment by check or by paypal or by credit card over the phone.
Email me for details or to place your order.

Collective Sense | A Generous Art Event during EAST

Tree of Life No 7, watercolor, alcohol inks, oil
and cold wax on the Artist Panel, 18x24
I'm excited to tell you about my upcoming show opening this Saturday Nov 10th at the annual East Austin Studio Tour or EAST. Organized by Generous Art, an online gallery that supports both artists and non-profits, this exhibition features myself and two other artist members and friends: Kerry Schroeder, and Judith Simonds. Together, we present a cohesive look at how the power and fragility of life can be seen and expressed from three unique points of view, each drawing inspiration from the natural world.

We are contributing members of GenerousArt.org and eagerly accepted the invitation to participate in this show. Founded by Austin artist and friend, Jennifer Chenoweth as a way to bring collectors, artists and non-profits together, Generous Art donates 40% of each sale to the collector’s non-profit of choice and another 40% goes to the artist.

We each created work on a variety of Ampersand panels including Claybord™ and Gessobord™ specifically for this fundraising event, a number of which are presented in frames provided by Jerry’s. A big thank you to both Ampersand and Jerry's Artarama, show sponsors for this event.

[Preview the art for sale here]

By purchasing a work of art from Collective Sense through Generous Art, 40% of the sale will benefit these fantastic non-profit organizations. Artwork can be purchased both in person and online, either option will benefit the participating non-profits listed below.

People Fund
Urban Roots
HOPE Farmers Market
Entrepreneurs Foundation of Central Texas

PeopleFund provides small business loans as well as business assistance and education to people with otherwise limited access to such resources such as artists and creatives.
